As a newcomer to the HubSpot community, I was initially overwhelmed by the platform's powerful capabilities for delivering a best-in-class customer experience all in one place. However, I quickly realized that I needed to accelerate my learning process to fully leverage its functionality. Despite my technical background in programming and analytics, I found that the unfamiliarity of the platform and its unique customized tools created barriers to my progress. Fortunately, I discovered HubSpot's newest Academy Course for Solutions Partners in HubSpot Architecture I: Data Models and APIs, which proved to be an incredibly useful resource.

I'll share highlights from my experience with the course, including the top three reasons I found it valuable. Hopefully by reading about my experience, you'll save yourself some time and accelerate your learning process as you begin to explore the powerful capabilities of HubSpot!

Comprehensive and Detailed Data Management Course

The course provided a holistic view of everything I needed to know about the data model structure in HubSpot. The detailed video tutorials were especially helpful, providing step-by-step guidance on everything from setting up the correct test and developer accounts to importing original data, mapping properties, building custom properties, assigning association labels, and using workflows and powerful integration tools to further meet specific business needs. After completing the Academy's coursework, I felt much more confident in my ability to complete various tasks related to the data model. And even better, I can always reference the tutorials from this course as my go-to solution hub.

Better Overcoming Programming Language Barrier

Another significant challenge I faced when working with HubSpot, especially when it came to designing and writing custom code within workflows, was the programming language barrier. Although HubSpot supports several programming languages, including Python, Java, Node.js, and PHP, I found it challenging to navigate search engines as my main source of documentation for API calls and other technical usages in HubSpot. The abundance of outdated solutions and resources written in different languages makes finding relevant and reliable information difficult. Once again, the HubSpot Academy came to the rescue. The Academy pointed me to the most authoritative resource center and walked me through the documentation step by step, familiarizing me with the layout and how to find information efficiently, helping me overcome the language barrier and gain a deeper understanding of the technical aspects of the platform.

Real-Life Use Cases to Improve Project Management Skills

Lastly, the content offered in the Academy worked especially well for people like me who are both analytical and visionary. After learning how to manage clients' data models best and use HubSpot-built and third-party integrations to develop solutions, the Academy presented three real-life client use cases to demonstrate how HubSpot solutions could solve complex business problems. Each presenter shared their best practices in each project phase: discovery, scoping, education, build and testing, documentation, and maintenance. This course section benefited me as someone new to client-facing work and seeking to improve my project management skills.
